The Apple iPod Shuffle Feature

So I have a new iPod Touch (hence the start of the blog). It was a birthday gift and well, let's just say, I'm not a 20-something, nor.... well, I'm not the iPod-generation. So I'm still learning my way around my iPod Touch, but here is one feature, that I believe is on all iPod's: Shuffle. Basically you have your list of songs and you touch (iPod Touch is operated by touch) the word Shuffle and voila the songs will be played in a brand new order.

I think you have to be more than 30-years-old to truly appreciate how cool this is. I mean first we had where you only could get a whole album. And those of us that loved two songs on this album and 3 on another, had to be really dedicated and make cassette tapes of just those songs we loved. Many of us did that. And when you put that cassette in the player and listened to it for the first time, you always felt like you had created the greatest music blend known to mankind. But the funny thing is, after you played that cassette a dozen or two times, the arrangement didn't seem nearly so cool. In fact you found you didn't really like it that much better than just playing the album.

Listening to music is nicest when there is something fresh about the experience. And the iPod Shuffle feature offers just that. Actually iTunes has the same feature. I mean it's a small thing, right? But it's a big deal in terms of how much more fun it is to listen to your collection of songs when you don't know what's coming up next.

Well I like it. It's just one of many reasons that Apple really is a cool company.

Signed,
The iPod Touch Gadget Girl
